WEDNESDAY IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s Game 43 between Rajasthan Royals v Royal Challengers Bangalore with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

IPL Game 43 Rajasthan Royals v Royal Challengers Bangalore

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Indian Premier League is back in Dubai on Wednesday as Rajasthan Royals take on Royal Challengers Bangalore. It’s fair to say that batting has been tougher than expected thus far in the UAE, but Kohli and Maxwell fired for Royal Challengers Bangalore here on Sunday and powered them to 165/6. That was a very impressive win over Mumbai Indians, winning by 54 runs in the end. They also went into that game under pressure having lost their opening two games but that win leaves them in a good place, especially with Mumbai Indians drop in second last now.

You get the feeling this is another massive game on BETDAQ Betting Exchange for both sides looking at the table. Rajasthan Royals started the week with a disappointing loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad. I expected a low quality affair and Hyderabad managed to chase down Rajasthan’s 164/5 at Dubai. I have to say that was pretty disappointing because Hyderabad have been poor, and there’s a tonne of stuff going on in the dressing room. David Warner is even leaving comments on Instagram to fans saying he won’t play again. The management have treated him so poor after years of service. But anyway, back to today’s game and RCB should be confident of winning here.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’ve had enough games in the UAE now to get a feel for conditions and batting has been a lot tougher than I expected. We had pretty high scores here last season, and I expected very good batting wickets especially with the T20 World Cup being hosted here too. I would still expect a big change in conditions for the T20 World Cup, and they have put the IPL on tougher wickets. Scoring has been easier here than Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, but it’s still reasonably tough. I felt 165 was around par before RCB beat Mumbai Indians here on Sunday but Mumbai were so far away I doubt 165 is par anymore. There’s no question what you do at the toss, you bat first.

RECOMMENDED BET:

RCB were very impressive against Mumbai Indians at the weekend, and if they can repeat that performance then it won’t even be close here. I think it will pay to go against Rajasthan for most of their games in the UAE given their squad, and with Kohli and Maxwell looking in good touch it should be one way traffic for RCB here. That’s not even allowing for AB de Villiers coming into form – he should play an excellent knock to win a match soon, I feel it takes the players retired from International cricket a few games to find their touch in these T20 tournaments.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

On paper, I’m just not a fan of this Rajasthan side. I think that was highlighted on Monday when they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their batting and bowling both look light on paper, but that was always going to be the case when you lose your star players. I wouldn’t trust them with a trade in either department. However, I have to say the biggest in-play edge here could be getting on the side batting first. As the wickets get tougher and tougher to bat on, batting first will give the best use of conditions. We saw how bogged down Mumbai Indians got here at the weekend, and I wouldn’t fancy chasing 150. I know RCB have some of the worlds best batsmen so they can do anything, but if they don’t fire then chasing will be tough for everyone else.
