IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s IPL eliminator game between Lucknow Super Giants v Royal Challengers Bangalore with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The pressure is on at the IPL on Wednesday as Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore face off in the Eliminator! Both sides have had their ups and downs this season, and this promises to be another very close and dramatic game on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Lucknow Super Giants have had a superb first campaign in the IPL, and to be honest they will be kicking themselves for not finishing in the top two after they lost two of their last three games. One of those games was against Rajasthan Royals too, who finished with the same number of points but had a better net run rate.

Royal Challengers Bangalore haven’t been as good and consistent as Lucknow Super Giants this season, but they do have some massive stars in their line-up that now what this type of pressure feels like. Of course the big names in Lucknow Super Giants know how to win big games too, but I have to say I was very impressed with the do-or-die win from RCB in their final game. After a terrible season, Virat Kohli really stepped up with 73 runs off 54. Along with scores of 40+ from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, RCB do head into the Playoffs with their key players in great touch. That’s very dangerous for Lucknow!

Despite that wonderful final game win, RCB still needed a favour from Mumbai Indians to beat Delhi Capitals in their final game. In the season where they have been rock bottom the whole time, Mumbai delivered for RCB! This should be a cracker to be honest. Both sides have been very entertaining this season, so I am expecting a dramatic game.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said yesterday, we have the two opening Playoff games at Kolkata before moving to Ahmedabad. You’ll get a good judge of conditions here looking at the Qualifier score on Tuesday, and you’d have to expect very similar conditions only 24 hours later. I mentioned some average scores yesterday and for people who missed that, we had an average score batting first of 194 in 2019, 178 in 2018 and 184 in 2017. I know I am going back a few years there, but obviously we’ve had a big break in cricket in India with the Covid19 outbreak – it’s been three season now with no normal schedule and hopefully we can get back to our usual home grounds next season! In general this ground has been very good for batting, and I would expect the batters to be on top.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s not a surprise to see a pretty even market here. You’d expect a close and even game, and although RCB have a lot of stars in their team I am happy to side with Lucknow Super Giants here. RCB have had their moments, and I’m going to keep stakes small here because I am worried about their stars firing. However, Lucknow Super Giants have a superbly balanced side. Although they didn’t finish in the top two, their side probably has the best balance in the tournament. There are no weaknesses in my opinion. While RCB are fantastic when Kohli, du Plessis and Maxwell fire they will be really struggling for runs if they fail. With Lucknow you just don’t see that – they have a very talented opening pair who set a record last week for an opening stand, then they have an explosive middle order and their bowling is probably on a par with RCB. In a high scoring game, I expect Lucknow to win it with their batting.

The Edge Says:
One point win Lucknow Super Giants to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore at 1.91 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I would keep a keen eye on the Qualifier here on Tuesday, and work some strategy around what happened in that game. I am expecting a high scoring game with good batting conditions, but if you see a tricky wicket on Tuesday it will change the plans for this game. Based on the ground data here, it pays to look for trades on the batting side. I would suggest both sides have a better batting line-up than bowling line-up too, so it fits that this game will be high scoring if conditions allows, which they should. I would be very keen to support both batting orders, especially Lucknow who have a fantastic opening pair along with an explosive middle order should they have a good platform. Maxwell and Kohli should also go well here for RCB, and overall I wouldn’t want to be on either side when bowling for long.
