THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s 5th T20 between Pakistan v England with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Pakistan v England 5th T20

The Pakistan v England T20 series rolls onto Lahore after four wonderful games in Karachi. We saw dramatic scenes in the 4th T20 on Sunday, and dramatic market moves on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! England were chasing Pakistan’s 166/4 and were on 162/7 after 18.2 overs then disaster stuck. Liam Dawson was out next ball and England ended up only adding one more run after that to be all out on 163 with four balls left in the innings. You can’t get much more dramatic than that! It was very entertaining viewing, but from an England point of view they threw away a winning position and a 3-1 series lead.

We arrive into Lahore with the series set up perfect though at 2-2. I said at the start of the series that I felt there wouldn’t be much between the sides and it’s played out that way. Pakistan started the 1st T20 trading around 1.7, and now they might not even start this game as favourites. I read an article the weekend that said Pakistan over value their wickets and don’t take enough chances, while England under value theirs and get out too cheaply – it really is a clash of styles!

It will be interesting to see who comes out on top here, and indeed the series. Obviously we change conditions here too – I suspect that to improve both sides basically need to take a leaf out of the others book. Pakistan need to attack more, but they are crippled with fear of middle order collapses. England just need to not attack as much as they are and value their wickets a tiny bit more, but on balance I think it’s clear England are the better T20 side at the moment – however there isn’t much in it!

This will be our first look at Lahore, and we should have a better idea of conditions in the final two T20’s after seeing what happens Wednesday afternoon. We actually had five T20’s scheduled here for 2021 but unfortunately New Zealand cancelled their tour, but we did see Australia play here in April. Pakistan posted 162/8 and Australia chased it down in 19.1 overs. That wasn’t without drama though as they lost seven wickets along the way. This was a very high scoring venue in the Pakistan Super League this season – we even saw a score of 245/3. Plenty of 190+ scores and the likes of 199 chased down etc. Because it was so high scoring, it actually paid to bat first given the pressure chasing big scores. It is a tricky decision what to do at the toss here, but I would expect a high scoring game.

It’s been very interesting to see the way the markets have moved over the course of four games. As I said above, we’ve gone from Pakistan starting 1.7 to now seeing England as slight favourites – really and truly there isn’t much between the sides here. I thought that at the start of the series, and I still feel the same – however I do feel that England are the better T20 side. If anything they have looked stronger and less likely to need conditions in their favour to win games. I think the market agrees with that, and that’s why we see England move into favouritism. With a high scoring game expected, I favour England at 1.95 here given how much they are going to attack. I can’t see the Pakistan batsmen living with the run rate needed here once the top three get out.

The Edge Says:
Two points win England to beat Pakistan at 1.95 with Betdaq Exchange.

Obviously this is the first game here, so I would just take your time to confirm what conditions are like before fully forming an opinion. However, judging from the Pakistan Super League games here we can expect very good batting conditions. I wouldn’t want to be on their bowling side for long here, and I would be surprised if we didn’t see a high score in the first innings. I’m not 100% keen on the Pakistan middle order, so I would lower stakes in that sense, however the top four should go very well and I would expect this England batting line-up to do very well here. Over all, I fully expect the bat to be on top over the ball.
