3rd ODI SOUTH AFRICA v PAKISTAN: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s third ODI between SOUTH AFRICA v PAKISTAN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have another excellent series decider on Wednesday as South Africa and Pakistan go into the final ODI level on 1-1. We have had some incredible International cricket recently, and we also have the IPL to enjoy on on BETDAQ Betting Exchange from Friday too! It’s a brilliant time for every cricket fan. Pakistan needed over 30 runs from the final over on Sunday, but we still had massive drama as de Kock pointed at the bowlers end as the ball was flying into hit the stumps at the batters end. Apparently the ICC are happy it wasn’t in breach of the laws of fake fielding, but Pakistan still won’t be happy.

We had an excellent high scoring game on Sunday, and we have had some excellent cricket in the first two ODI’s. South Africa will be at a massive disadvantage today though as they have lost all their stars to the IPL. Pakistan have a fantastic chance for a big series win away from home now and they can also win the T20 series afterwards. Without the Pakistan players in the IPL, they will be at full strength against basically the second XI from South Africa.

South Africa started the series as big favourites – they traded around 1.6 for the 1st ODI but we landed a nice bet on Pakistan at 2.62. I’m not surprised to see Pakistan move into 1.81 for this game however, and I would definitely have them shorter with South Africa missing all their key players. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on the South Africa replacements, and there’s bound to be some mistakes.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We move back to the Centurion after Pakistan won the 1st ODI here. We had a final ball thriller that day as South Africa scored 273/6 and Pakistan needed a run off the final ball to win. There was some moisture in the pitch for that game, and it will be very interesting to see do we get the same type of wicket here. I would assume it will play a little better, as it’s been so long since we had cricket with Covid19. South Africa lose their new ball bowlers to the IPL, so perhaps we can expect a bigger score if Pakistan bat first. If the pitch is tricky first up though, South Africa have to bowl first given their weakened bowling – they need all the help from the pitch they can get.

RECOMMENDED BET:

As I said above, I’m confident Pakistan will win here given South Africa have lost all their stars. It’s not just a case of them losing the new ball bowlers, but they lose de Kock and Miller too which is obviously a huge loss to the batting. Van der Dussen managed a century in the first game, and they will need the others to stand up here. Pakistan are playing excellent cricket at the moment and with them being at a full strength they can beat this second XI from South Africa.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I noted in my preview of the 1st ODI, that when the South African stars go to the IPL it will be very interesting to see how the younger South African players cope with the pressure of going into a series decider – we’re going to find out! I would assume they will come up very short, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some poor bowling under pressure or a collapse from the batters. Obviously Pakistan need to put them under that pressure, but you would assume they can because they are playing good cricket at the moment.

A lot depends on the pitch here – we had a very slow start in the 1st ODI, but conditions should improve a little. As I said above, South Africa will need a lot of help from the pitch. I feel that’s the only way they can win, if we get a huge amount of movement first up and Pakistan collapse. From a trading point of view, I’d be keen on Pakistan right throughout the game, especially in the pressure moments with South Africa missing their stars.
