MANCHESTER CITY v LIVERPOOL

3.30pm All eyes on BETDAQ Betting Exchange will turn to Wembley on Saturday as Manchester City and Liverpool clash again! After a dramatic top of the table clash in the Premier League, this time it’s in the FA Cup Semi-Final and after the midweek results in the Champions League – we could be heading for a Manchester City v Liverpool Champions League Final too! What can you say about these two clubs other than they have both been exceptional, and we have another fantastic game of football to enjoy here.

As I said in my preview of their clash in the Premier League clash weekend, with such a high level of performance from both sides it really does come down to their performance over the 90 minutes and who gets the tactics right on the day. I have no doubt that there will be some little changes after the 2-2 draw in the Premier League, and we do have the two best managers in the world at the moment here.

It’s definitely an exciting game and the build-up will be fantastic. From a betting point of view, we have a very open market with Manchester City favourites at 2.62 at the time of writing – there isn’t much in it though as Liverpool are trading 2.86 with the draw 3.6. It’s hard to see anything other than another very close game here, and you can fully understand why we have an open market. Of course last Sunday, we had times were either side was on top but in general it was a very even game. The xG figures backed that up too, and neither side can complain about a draw in the end.

With so much attacking talent on display and given how many chances we saw at the weekend, over 2.5 goals makes a lot of appeal at 1.75 here. Both sides aren’t lacking at the back, but with the high tempo and end-to-end nature of the two sides they just gel together so well for an entertaining game of football. In the match odds market, I do like Manchester City at 2.6 – I know we landed a nice lay on City at the weekend but they were as short as 2.2, I feel the market pushing out the price to 2.6 has gone a little too far in my opinion. As we discussed at the weekend, City are just that little bit more solid at the back this season.

Both sides have been incredible going forward – City’s average xG per game in the Premier League is 2.4 while their xG conceded is as low as 0.7. For Liverpool, going forward their xG this season is 2.6 while their xG conceded is 1.0. To be honest, there really isn’t much in it when you look at the stats. You can see why both sides are so good and so far ahead at the top of the Premier League. I would just edge towards City at the odds this time around, but the bet that stands out here is over 2.5 goals at 1.75. It’s very likely we’re going to have another open game here with a host of chances, and given the talent on show we’re going to see goals. I’d have overs much shorter.
