SHEFFIELD UNITED V MANCHESTER CITY

12.30pm We have shortened Premier League fixture list today with only three fixtures, but we have three fantastic fixtures with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool all in action. We have been on an excellent run in October with an ROI of 26%, so hopefully we can go out with a bang – especially considering all football bets are 0% commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We start the day with Sheffield United hosting Manchester City in what has been a poor start to the season for both sides, compared to their standards.

City had yet another disappointing draw against West Ham last weekend, and they start the weekend all the way down in 13th! It’s early days of course, but more worryingly for Guardiola they are already five points behind Liverpool – although granted they have one game in hand. They should get back to winning ways here because Sheffield United have started the season really poorly. They’ve only managed one draw from six games, and that came against Fulham who are bottom of the table. They were very unlucky to lose against Arsenal, but this should be one way traffic for City – who look great value at 1.85 to cover the 1.5 goal handicap.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Manchester City -1.5 goals to beat Sheffield United at 1.85 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.

MATCH STATS

  • Sheffield United are winless in their last six league meetings with Man City (D2 L4), failing to score in any of the last four. Their last victory against them was in the second tier in January 2000 (1-0).
  • Manchester City are looking to win four consecutive league games against Sheffield United for the first time since March 1930.
  • Sheffield United have never beaten Man City in the Premier League in eight attempts (D3 L5), the most they’ve faced any side in the competition without a victory. They’ve failed to score in seven of these eight meetings, the highest percentage of games a side has failed to score against another in the Premier League (88% – minimum eight meetings).
  • Sheffield United are winless in their last nine Premier League games (D1 L8), the longest ongoing run among all current sides in the competition. The last time the Blades failed to win any of their first seven league games in a single campaign was back in 1991-92.
  • Among the 17 ever-present Premier League sides since the start of last season, Sheffield United have had the fewest shots (409) and fewest shots on target (131), while only Crystal Palace (39) have scored fewer goals than the Blades in the competition (42).
  • Manchester City are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games (W1 D2), although they’ve bagged just one goal in each match. It’s their longest run of failing to score more than once in a league game since October 2016 (3) in Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge.
  • No side has won more English top-flight matches on Halloween (October 31st) than Manchester City (W10 D0 L3) – level with Arsenal.
  • Manchester City have won just eight points from their first five Premier League games this season – it’s Pep Guardiola’s worst start at this stage of the season in his managerial career. The fewest points Guardiola has collected after the first six league games was 13, most recently in 2019-20.
  • Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has won 99 of his 202 games in charge of the club in all competitions, although he’s been stuck on 99 wins for the last 10 matches (D2 L8), since beating Chelsea 3-0 in July.
  • Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has been directly involved in 99 goals in 203 Premier League appearances (58 goals, 41 assists); his next goal or assist would see him become the 6th African player to reach the century milestone after Didier Drogba, Yakubu, Emmanuel Adebayor, Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah.

BURNLEY V CHELSEA

3pm Chelsea found their scoring boots on Wednesday in the Champions League with a smooth 4-0 win over Krasnodar. We landed a nice bet on them, and we can land another bet on them today at 1.55. The 1.55 looks at least ten ticks too big, especially with 0% commission on offer. Burnley start the weekend in the relegation zone with only one point from six games, and while they were unlucky to lose against Spurs on Monday night – looking at their xG it’s clear why they aren’t winning games – they aren’t creating enough chances.

Chelsea had two pretty boring 0-0 draws recently against Sevilla and Manchester United, but Burnley aren’t playing at a level close to those sides and Chelsea have been scoring plenty this season. I’m still a little worried about how they are playing at the back, and we have seen some crazy games from them with 3-3 draws against West Brom and Southampton – so the 1.55 isn’t a max bet, just a very confident one. Chelsea will outscore Burnley here.

The Striker Says:
Four points win Chelsea to beat Burnley at 1.55 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.

MATCH STATS

  • Burnley have won just one of their 12 Premier League matches against Chelsea (D3 L8), with that victory coming at Stamford Bridge in August 2017 (3-2).
  • Chelsea have won five of their six Premier League away games against Burnley (D1), netting at least twice in each victory. Indeed, the Blues have scored exactly four goals on each of their last two visits to Turf Moor, with Christian Pulisic netting a hat-trick in this fixture last season.
  • None of the 12 Premier League meetings between Burnley and Chelsea have been goalless at half-time, making it the most played fixture in the competition to always have a goal scored in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Chelsea have won nine points or fewer from their opening six Premier League games to a season in just three of their last 20 campaigns, with two of those instances coming during Frank Lampard’s tenure (8 pts in 2019-20 and 9 pts in 2020-21).
  • Chelsea have won just three of their 12 top-flight games on Halloween (October 31st), losing last time out in 2015 versus Liverpool (1-3) – they’ve not lost consecutive top-flight games on this date since 1964, when the second defeat in this run came against Burnley.
  • Burnley have lost each of their last three Premier League games at Turf Moor – they last lost four in a row at home in the competition in April 2010 under Brian Laws.
  • Burnley have registered the highest percentage of passes long in the Premier League this season, with the Clarets going long with 19.6% of their passes. Indeed, no side has scored fewer goals in open play in the Premier League this term than Burnley (1).
  • Chelsea kept just their second away clean sheet in the Premier League under Frank Lampard at Man Utd last time out. The Blues haven’t kept recorded consecutive shutouts on the road in the competition since a run of three in October 2018.
  • Burnley manager Sean Dyche has won just one of his 10 Premier League matches against Chelsea (D3 L6); against sides he’s faced 3+ times in the competition, he’s only beaten Arsenal (none) on fewer occasions.
  • Edouard Mendy is looking to become the first Chelsea keeper to keep a clean sheet in each of his first three Premier League appearances for the Blues since Petr Cech in August 2004.

LIVERPOOL V WEST HAM

5.30pm While most football punters might look at this fixture and chalk it down for an easy Liverpool win, I strongly disagree! Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s side look very short at 1.41. West Ham have been playing some very nice football at the start of the season, and while Liverpool will probably get the job done in the end – I wouldn’t want to be lumping on the 1.41. The Hammers arrive here off the back of two draws against Spurs and Man City. Obviously we know what a crazy game they had against Spurs, but their xG numbers have been impressive this season. They beat Leicester 3-0 and Wolves 4-0.

Liverpool will be without their star man at the back Virgil van Dijk, and while they have adjusted to life without him with three straight wins – I think West Ham should be able to score here. The Hammers have created more than enough chances to suggest that they can score against this Liverpool side. Liverpool haven’t exactly been putting away teams this season, and if West Ham score first the in-running market could get very interesting! For me, Both Teams To Score is worth backing at 1.65.

Two points win Both Teams To Score at 1.65 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.

MATCH STATS

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games against West Ham (W6 D2), since losing both meetings with the Hammers in the 2015-16 campaign.
  • West Ham have won just one of their last 47 away league games against Liverpool (D12 L34), winning 3-0 in August 2015.
  • West Ham have lost 21 of their 24 Premier League away games against reigning champions (W1 D2), with their only victory coming in December 2001 against Manchester United at Old Trafford (1-0).
  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 62 Premier League home games (W51 D11), winning 28 of their last 29 at Anfield. If they avoid defeat here, it will equal the Reds’ longest ever unbeaten home run in their league history (63 between February 1978-December 1980).
  • Liverpool have received more red cards on Halloween than any other side in the Premier League (3) – Jason McAteer v Leicester City in 1998, Jamie Carragher and Philipp Degen v Fulham in 2009.
  • Having lost their opening two Premier League games this season, West Ham are now unbeaten in their last four (W2 D2), with that four-game unbeaten run coming against sides who finished in the top seven places last season.
  • Both Sadio Mané (5 goals, 3 assists) and Mohamed Salah (6 goals, 2 assists) have been involved in eight goals in six Premier League appearances for Liverpool against West Ham, with Mané finding the net in each of his last four against the Hammers.
  • West Ham boss David Moyes has never won in 15 previous Premier League away games against Liverpool (D6 L9) – only Moyes himself (17 v Arsenal) has overseen more away games against a side without victory in the competition.
  • Diogo Jota has scored in both of his Premier League games for Liverpool at Anfield – the last player to score in each of their first three at home for the Reds in the competition was Luis García in October 2004.
  • Michail Antonio has scored 11 goals in his last 13 Premier League games for West Ham. In total, he’s netted 39 in the competition, with only three players netting more for the Hammers (Paolo Di Canio 47, Mark Noble 46, Carlton Cole 41).
