THE OLD FIRM DERBY SUNDAY: The Striker previews Sunday’s crucial Old Firm Derby on Sunday between RANGERS v CELTIC with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

RANGERS V CELTIC

12pm All eyes are on Scotland on Sunday morning on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as we have a massive Old Firm Derby! This is a must win game for Rangers as they sit three points behind Celtic at the top of the table. Celtic have really improved this season after Rangers ran away with the title last season going the full season unbeaten, but since then they have lost Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa and they have given away some needless points with seven draws this season. Despite both sides dropping points throughout the season, such is the gulf in class between the top two and the rest of the league, it’s usually the Old Firm that decides the title.

Rangers have a lot of work to do. Not only are they three points behind Celtic in the table, they are also massively behind on goal difference too. The gap is so big there Rangers are going to have to hope Celtic drop points somewhere else as well as win this game, and not only that but they have managed to get to the Quarter-Finals of the Europa League too so they have a massive game coming up on Thursday night. Rangers have been superb in the Europa League this season, and they would have been happy with the draw too. They have a good chance of beating Braga and getting to the Semi-Final which would be incredible.

Although they will no doubt be fully focused on this fixture, you can easily see them taking their eye off the ball if they do reach the Semi-Final of the Europa League and even next week in the second leg of the Quarter-Final. There’s a lot going on for Rangers, but for Celtic they know that if they win this fixture then the title is basically in the bag. Rangers won’t come back from a six point difference at this stage of the season.

So, a lot on the line here and it’s no surprise that we have such an open market too. Celtic have been the better side for me this season, but there’s no getting away from the fact that Rangers have been top class at times this season. It looked like they were in an excellent position to lift the title again this season before Gerrard left and they also lost the last Old Firm Derby 3-0 when Celtic had home advantage. With Rangers having home advantage, and that’s always a factor in the Old Firm Derby, you can understand why we have an open market here.

Rangers come into the game as marginal favourites, and while I don’t agree with the odds I can understand why plenty of punters want to back them. I feel it’s the “must win” factor, and also people will understand that Celtic won’t mind a draw here so they won’t exactly been pushing in the final 15 minutes. I actually think the draw is very good value here at 3.4. It’s hard to see past a very close game here and although we usually see high drama in this fixture, I can see both sides cancelling each other out here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 0-0 or 1-1 score line, but fingers crossed we get a 3-3 or 4-4!
