THE STRIKER: previews two Carabao Cup matches on Thursday with a recommended bet. It’s WOLVES v STOKE and BRIGHTON v PORTSMOUTH.

WOLVES v STOKE

7pm Wolves got their season off to a flyer on Monday evening with two goals in the first six minutes! They couldn’t have asked for a better start, and although we’ll more than likely see a few changes tonight, they’ll be hoping to continue their momentum with a solid win here. Stoke started their season with a 0-0 draw away to Millwall which neither team could argue about – both had an xG of under 1 and Stoke will have to up their game if they’re going to trouble the hosts.

It wasn’t so long ago that Stoke were a Premier League side but they have become a mid-table Championship side at best now. They finished 16th in 2018/2019 and only improved that by one position in 2019/2020. They are probably more likely to go down than back to the Premier League to be honest. We should see plenty of changes here so stakes have to be kept low, but Wolves are worth backing at 1.65 to beat a poor Stoke side.

The Striker Says:
One point win Wolves to beat Stoke at 1.65 with BETDAQ Exchange.

BRIGHTON v PORTSMOUTH

7.45pm This should be an interesting game! Portsmouth might be a League One side, but they have been very solid in recent years and Brighton will more than likely opt to rest some of their first XI tonight. Portsmouth have had to suffer disappointment in the Playoffs for a while now, only losing out on penalties last season. Brighton had a good summer transfer window and while they should really be playing their first XI for the League Cup, most Premier League sides tend not to.

With a weaker Brighton side, it’s hard not to see a very close game here. Portsmouth started League One with a 0-0 draw at the weekend, and they usually keep things reasonably tight at the back. Brighton conceded three against Chelsea at the weekend, but Chelsea are a completely different level. Under 2.5 goals makes appeal here for a small investment given the likely changes.

The Striker Says:
One point win Under 2.5 goals at 1.82 with BETDAQ Exchange.
