7.45pm It’s crunch time in the second leg of the second Championship Playoff and Fulham are in a commanding position to reach the Playoff Final after winning the first leg 2-0. It was an excellent performance from Scott Parker’s side winning the game with an xG of 1.27 to 0.26. Only creating 0.26 is surely a massive worry for Cardiff fans, and they need to change things up heading into the second leg here.
Fulham face a tricky decision as to whether they attack or try to defend their lead. However, as tricky tactical decisions go it’s a luxury to have a two goal lead to decide! Having seen the first leg and looking at Cardiff’s away record this season, I can’t see them turning this one around. Indeed, Fulham look good value in the match odds market to win the second leg at 2.04.
Cardiff have only managed 8 wins from 23 away games this season. They have been suffering problems at the back, conceding 37 goals. Compare this to Fulham who have netted 40 times at home this season – in line with xG too – and only conceded 26. Fulham were very impressive in the first leg and with home advantage here they can get the job done. I have kept stakes small, because as the game goes on they will of course be happy with a draw. However, Cardiff have to take chances too and that will only benefit Fulham.
