SUNDERLAND V FULHAM

7.45pm The FA Cup Fourth Round replays continue on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Wednesday as Sunderland host Fulham. This should be another very close game between these two, and you wouldn’t be shocked to see another draw in 90 minutes! It’s a fixture Fulham would have wanted to put to bed when they had home advantage, and given what a great support Sunderland have at home you’d have to say this is an excellent chance for them to get to the next round.

Fulham were in action last Friday night in a London Derby against Chelsea, and would have been pleased to come away with a 0-0 draw. As I said in my preview of that game, Chelsea went into that game in good form creating some decent xG figures – their best all season to be honest – but Fulham managed to stop them from playing and got a point. They kept Chelsea down to an xG of 1.30. Sunderland also played out an away draw in their weekend fixture, finishing with a 1-1 draw away to Millwall.

They are sitting in mid-table in the Championship, but they are still very much in the mix for the playoff spots. There’s only six points to third place after all – my major worry about Sunderland looking at their xG figures would be that they are conceding the same amount of chances that they are creating, so closing that gap to the playoff spots might be very difficult. Fulham are obviously having an excellent season in the Premier League, but they are conceding a lot of chances Their average xG conceded this season is 1.9 per game which is very high – you’d expect to see that from sides in the relegation battle! They haven’t conceded the goals they should have this season, but they are creating good figures going forward to counter this – their average xG created is 1.5 per game.

There really wasn’t much between the sides when they first met, and it’s hard to see that changing here. Especially now that Sunderland have home advantage too – I was surprised to see Fulham trading odds on when I clicked into the market, and I have to say the 1.79 feels much too short. I was very tempted to get involved in the goals market here, but I don’t think we’ll get better value than laying Fulham at the odds. I fully expect Sunderland to make the game closer than the odds suggest, and betting is all about getting value at the end of the day so it’s the Fulham lay for me in a very close game.

The Striker Says:
Two points lay (liability) Fulham to beat Sunderland at 1.79 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
