FRIDAY PREVIEW: The Ultra previews Friday’s matches between GLADBACH v HERTHA BERLIN and SEVILLA v REAL VALLADOLID both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

GLADBACH V HERTHA BERLIN

7pm European football is back on Friday night, and we have our usual fixture list on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with one game from the Bundesliga and one from La Liga. There are actually two fixtures in La Liga this evening, but Sevilla v Real Valladolid looks the pick of them. We have two very similar markets here – two big home favourites trading around 1.6. I’m sure the double will be a popular choice with Betdaq Multiples! We start in the Bundesliga with Gladbach hosting Hertha Berlin. Gladbach will be pleased to sit in third position at the moment – only two sides have won their opening two games (Bayern Munich and Dortmund), but they did only manage a 2-2 draw against Schalke last weekend which is two points dropped really. They managed to finish in the top four in 2019/20 but they’ve been sitting in mid-table for the last two season. Perhaps this is the season that they can get back into the mix, but their stats were terrible last season. They conceded an average of 1.8 goals per game last season, in line with their xG performance too, and as we all know – you don’t win many games conceding two goals! They will be fancied to beat this Hertha Berlin side who have got worst in recent years and now face relegation battles – however they did hold Eintracht Frankfurt to a draw last weekend.

I think we have a clear clash in styles here. When you look at Gladbach, everything about them screams goals at both ends of the pitch. That lines up with their xG figures from last season too – they created an average xG going forward of 1.7 and conceded 1.8. Hertha Berlin don’t have the same style – they are very limited going forward, but they are just as bad at the back. We could see plenty of mistakes in this one – both teams have scored and conceded in their opening two games, and I think we’ll see goals at both ends of pitch here too. Both Teams To Score is trading 1.7 and that looks cracking value. Gladbach are so bad at the back, they will give Hertha chances – I know they are a poor side, but they can score at some stage. I much prefer that bet to Gladbach winning around ten ticks lower at 1.6 – they aren’t a reliable side to be backing at odds like that based on what we saw last season.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Both Teams To Score at 1.7 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

SEVILLA V REAL VALLADOLID

9pm Next we move to La Liga as Sevilla host Real Valladolid. Osasuna beating Sevilla was a big shock on the opening weekend, although it wasn’t the biggest shock as Barcelona failed to win at home to Rayo Vallecano. Real Valladolid were able to bounce straight back up after getting relegated from La Liga in 2020/21, and although they finished second on the same amount of points as the winners in the Segunda. Real Valladolid are still a limited side, and Sevilla will be fancied to win this. Probably the most worrying element of their opening loss was the performance. They didn’t create that much and finished the game with an xG of 1.07. Outside of the goal which accounted for half of that, they just didn’t create enough. It wasn’t a game with a lot of chances however – if you take the Osasuna penalty out of it there wasn’t much created from open play. Real Valladolid also lost on the opening weekend, going down 3-0 at home to Villarreal. We all know that Villarreal are a good side, and we’ll reserve judgement on Real Valladolid until we see a little more of them – they face another side here a level or two above them, and whether or not they stay up this season won’t depend on fixtures like this in my opinion. Any points here is a compete bonus against a top four side.

When Real Valladolid got relegated, they finished the season with less than one goal per game. Their xG figure wasn’t far off that either, and when I look at their squad this season it’s hard to see them creating a host of chances. They created an xG of 1.0 on the opening weekend against Villarreal but couldn’t take any of those chances. I think they’ll struggle again in front of goal here, so we do have some options. Under 2.5 goals is trading 1.9 and that is a very tempting play considering Real Valladolid don’t create many chances and then Sevilla struggled in their opening game. Sevilla also take a bit of time to come into games, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a score line of 0-0 at half-time for example. While I couldn’t put anyone off backing Under 2.5 goals, I prefer the Sevilla option here at 1.6. I just feel it’s hard to get away from the Sevilla win here – Real Valladolid are an average side who struggle for goals. What makes me choose Sevilla over the Under 2.5 goals is we could see another 3-0 loss for Real Valladolid if Sevilla score early. Sevilla should really win here though, and I’d have them shorter than the current 1.6.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Sevilla to beat Real Valladolid at 1.6 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
