7.30pm We have a cracking fixture for Friday Night Football in Europe this week as Union Berlin host Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. After briefly topping the Bundesliga table with some very impressive performances, Leverkusen have hit a wall. It’s been three games since they had a win, with two loss and a draw. They wouldn’t have expected to beat Bayern Munich, but the loss against Eintracht Frankfurt was disappointing and xG said the draw with Werder Bremen was a fair result.
Union Berlin are having a great season thus far as they sit in fifth position. They are only four points behind Leverkusen now, and have only lost twice this season. Looking at xG, they are definitely higher in the table than their performances should reflect. For example from their recent games, they drew 2-2 with Wolfsburg but Wolfsburg won on xG 2.06 to 0.97 and they beat Werder Bremen 2-0 but xG had it 1.11 to 1.02. They did beat Dortmund recently though which was a good result, but against xG had it a draw and they were also lucky to draw 2-2 with Stuttgart.
It’s a shame that Leverkusen arrive into the game after a little dip in form, otherwise they would be a max bet for me. The Union results have been good, but xG says their performances haven’t been good and they are there for the taking if Leverkusen play well. For me Leverkusen are worth backing at 2.2 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange looking at the xG figures, however I will reduce my stakes given the under-par Leverkusen performances.
The 2.2 is still too big to ignore though. Union have xG figures of 0.97, 1.11, 1.45, 0.66, 1.26 and 0.22 from their last six. Leverkusen may have had a dip in form, but they usually create a lot more than that and they can outscore this Union side.
