BUNDESLIGA: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Friday’s game between UNION BERLIN v KOLN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

7.30pm Club football returns on Friday night after the International break and we start the action in the Bundesliga on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Union Berlin host Koln. We have a fantastic weekend ahead right across Europe and although it was an important International break with the crunch World Cup Qualifiers, it is nice to have club football back. We also have the Champions League and Europa League to look forward to next week – we have some massive weeks ahead to enjoy!

This is more or less a mid-table clash, but Koln won’t have given up on a European spot. The International break probably came at a good time for them as they were losing a lot of ground in the race for sixth spot, and they are going to start the weekend four points behind Hoffenheim. That gap isn’t too big and they can close it, but they can’t afford to drop many more points from now. Despite sitting in 9th, Union Berlin are only two points behind Koln and from their point of view they’ll be hoping to jump over Koln and into that 7th spot. Depending on who wins the German Cup 7th will becomes a Europa League spot so there’s a lot to play for here.

Union Berlin went into the International break off the back of a 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich but you can forgive them that. The draw against Stuttgart was very fair but Union Berlin were unlucky to lose against Wolfsburg prior to that. To be honest both clubs have a very similar profile here – they also have very similar home and away records and it’s hard to see anything bar a very close game here. It’s not a surprise to see a very open market. They both have very similar stats in the xG department too – Union Berlin have had an xG of 2.9 per goals in their Bundesliga games this season (scoring 1.6 and conceding 1.4) while for Koln is 3.0 (scoring 1.5 and conceding 1.5).

Koln actually haven’t had too many goals in their last five with all five games coming in under 2.5 goals. The xG figures have shown their games to be more open though, and the same could be said about Union Berlin too. Their xG figures have definitely been higher than the score line recently. I think both sides will gel together well here for a good game for football, and over 2.5 goals looks good value at 1.95. I feel the match odds market looks about right; perhaps Union Berlin are a little short at 2.48 but there isn’t much in it. We could have an entertaining game here and I’m happy to be on overs.
