NATIONS LEAGUE: The Ultra previews Monday’s matches between DENMARK v AUSTRIA and FRANCE v CROATIA both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

DENMARK V AUSTRIA

7.45pm We’re down to the final two days of this International break now, and I’m sure the players are looking forward to their holidays. It’s been in the news over the weekend that players will be playing too many games with only a three week holiday in 2022, but that is the fault of the World Cup and nothing else. Having the World Cup in Qatar was always going to cause a huge amount of issues. Nevertheless, the Nations League show continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange to kick off the week and we have another big night in Group A1. We start the night with Denmark hosting Ralf Rangnick’s Austria. It looked like Denmark might to be able to really take a hold of this Group before Friday, but they slipped to a 1-0 loss at home against Croatia and that has really opened the Group up. Denmark won their opening two games so they lead with six points, then you have Austria and Croatia behind on four followed by France sitting in bottom with two points. Fair to say nobody expect France to be sitting in last place, and we should have plenty of drama in this Group now! I have seen videos on social media from this Austrian side pressing really high, and basically saying the United players rejected these tactics from Rangnick. It will be fascinating to see how they play here, and how they finish the Group.

We have a fascinating market here. Denmark are the favourites as you would expect with home advantage, and they are trading around 1.95 at the time of writing – not too far away from evens! Because this is a long International break at the end of the domestic season, we are seeing repeat fixtures very close together. This isn’t something that usually happens, but Denmark grinded out a 2-1 win away to Austria this day last week. They scored the winner with six minutes to go, and that gave them their sixth win over Austria in the last seven meetings. I have been impressed by Austria under Ralf Rangnick, they are working very hard and it’s a big improvement on World Cup qualifying where they were very poor. There isn’t wasn’t much between the sides in that game, and although I accept Denmark now have home advantage which does help in International football I still feel that the 1.95 is too short here. Like I said, Austria have been working very hard to win the ball back when they lose it and I can see them making life very difficult for Denmark. I just expect a closer game than the odds suggest here, and from a value point of view I’m happy with the 1.95 lay.

The Ultra Says:
Two points lay (liability) Denmark to beat Austria at 1.95 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

FRANCE V CROATIA

7.45pm What is going on with France? They have only managed two points from their three Nations League games and have produced more questions than answers over the last ten days. I know Austria have made a lot of improvement under Ralf Rangnick in a short space of time, but it was still surprising to see France fail to win the other night. It even looked like they would lose the game, needing a 83rd minute equaliser from their star man Mbappe for a 1-1 draw. As I said above, Austria have been working exceptionally hard under Rangnick when they haven’t got the ball and that is showing. I noted prior to Friday’s game that France have a lot of elite players and they might be tired coming to the end of a long season. I do feel that is a cheap excuse, but it is possible – it has been a very long year for some, and now they won’t have too much time off either because of the winter World Cup. It’s fair to say Croatia surprised a lot of football fans, including me, when they beat Denmark away from home on Friday. I didn’t see that coming after the opening two wins from Denmark, and Croatia haven’t been as good as they once were recently. I don’t think Denmark will be too disappointed with the performance, a draw was probably a fair result but credit to Croatia for grinding out a win. This is another game where they’ll have to dig in and grind out a result. I can see them being very cagey here with XI behind the ball and they’ll be hoping to have some success on the counter.

France have been conceding quite a few chances in this Nations League. They haven’t been controlling games like they usually do. They come into this game under pressure and needing a win though. Imagine how embarrassing it would be if they got relegated from an A Group after winning the last Nations League. That’s negative press in a World Cup year that they just don’t need. I would be surprised if France couldn’t win here, but given their level of form I have no interest in backing them at 1.58. It’s very hard to argue that they should be shorter than that, and I actually wouldn’t put anyone off laying them because I would expect another slow start from France. Looking at their games, they just haven’t been themselves. I think with the likely negative tactics from Croatia here France will struggle again, and under 2.5 goals is worth a small bet at 2.0 or bigger. France haven’t been in goals lately, really not creating the same volume of chances they usually do. They could grind out a 1-0 win here so I’m a lot happier with unders compared to the French lay.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 2.0 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
