SATURDAY PREVIEW: The Ultra previews Saturday’s matches between SCHALKE v UNION BERLIN, BAYERN MUNICH v GLADBACH and ALMERIA v SEVILLA all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

SCHALKE V UNION BERLIN

2.30pm As always, we have another exciting weekend ahead in Europe with action from all the top leagues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We have some very interesting markets today from the Bundesliga and La Liga, and we start in the Bundesliga with Schalke hosting Union Berlin. This might not be the highlight fixture from the Bundesliga games on Saturday afternoon, but the odds are my highlight! Union Berlin look exceptional value here at 2.4, and for me it’s just about picking what stake is the correct stake to go with. Union have been a top class side for a while now, and I was very surprised when I clicked into the market to see them trading as high as 2.4 to beat a side like Schalke. It’s easy to forget just how poor Schalke were when they were in the Bundesliga 2020/21 – they finished the season rock bottom with just 16 points. To their credit, they did bounce straight back up, but I also feel that probably shines a light on how weak Bundesliga 2 is. Although they topped that table, they still lost nine games which is a lot for Champions and they were totally outplayed by Koln on the opening weekend. They concede an xG of over 4.0, and while I know they picked up draw since against Gladbach and Wolfsburg – those are two sides who went backwards massively last season.

Getting results against Gladbach and Wolfsburg is good for Schalke though, let’s be honest, and it does look good on paper too. However, Union Berlin are now on a different level to those two sides these days. Union have started the season in good form too, they have picked up wins at home to Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig – I know Hertha were in the relegation battle last season, but to beat RB Leipzig was good – obviously they had to grind that one out but they got there. They also picked up a point away to Mainz in a very dull 0-0 – we landed a nice lay on Mainz that day and to be honest Union Berlin have been very kind to us this season. I think the markets are under-rating them and they are offering a lot of value. We all know Schalke are a poor side, and at 2.4 I can’t resist a Max Bet on Union at the odds. They just tick all the boxes here, and 2.4 is simply too big.

The Ultra Says:
Five points win Union Berlin to beat Schalke at 2.4 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

BAYERN MUNICH V GLADBACH

5.30pm We stay in the Bundesliga next as Bayern Munich host Gladbach. Bayern have had an electric start to the season, and with Dortmund losing last weekend this has turned into a top of the table clash. It’s a sign of the times to see that Bayern are trading as short as 1.22! Of course, it really isn’t a “top of the table” clash because Gladbach haven’t been a top four side for a while now, and when we play more fixtures they will drop down the table. Since finishing fourth in 2019/20 their form has really dropped off. They finished 8th in 2020/21 and then further down to 10th last season. They will want to change that trend! They aren’t going to change it away to Bayern Munich though, and I feel this is a case of how many goals will Bayern score rather than will they win. I won’t be recommending the 1.22 because I wouldn’t tip a price that short, but it is definitely a price to put in any Betdaq Multiple this weekend. It’s very hard to see past a Bayern win here. Bayern have scored 15 goals in three games this season, so the only question here is how many will they score? Gladbach conceded an average xG of 1.8 per Bundesliga game last season, and they are going to give a host of chances to Bayern here.

The only thing I would say about Bayern not scoring loads is that they have scored six and seven goals in their two away games this season, while they “only” scored two in a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg at home. Gladbach have had three positive results, but they have played Schalke and Hertha Berlin – two sides you’d expect to see in the relegation battle this season, but you can’t knock Gladbach for their performance at home to Hoffenheim on the opening day of the season. That being said, this is going to be one way traffic and we can land another bet on Bayern to cover the handicap. They are trading 1.54 to cover the 1.5 goal handicap which looks like a lovely bet in my opinion. Even if they don’t get out of second gear, I would still expect them to win by two goals or more.

The Ultra Says:
Four points win Bayern Munich -1.5 goals to beat Gladbach at 1.54 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

ALMERIA V SEVILLA

9pm We move over to La Liga to finish the day as Almeria host Sevilla. We have a fascinating market here, and I’m sure there will be some big opinions on the Sevilla price at 2.2 on both sides of the book! Sevilla have had a very disappointing start to the season with a loss away to Osasuna and then they had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid. It was nice to land a lay on Sevilla last weekend, but we were definitely lucky on that one. Sevilla finished the game with an xG of 2.28 and they concede just 0.62 – they deserved to win the game. Perhaps more worryingly they were poor away from home to Osasuna, but Almeria are a level down from Osasuna and you’d have to fancy Sevilla to finally get their season up and running here. Almeria were totally outplayed by Real Madrid on the opening weekend, but you’d expect that, and I would judge them more on their performance against Elche in a very even 1-1 draw last weekend. Elche were slap bang in the relegation fight in 2020/21 before moving up the table last season, and you’d have to expect Almeria to find in tough to stay in La Liga this season.

I’d have Sevilla closer to 2.0 here, there is an obvious gulf in class, and although they didn’t get the win last weekend their performance was much improved. They pretty much bossed the game, and I know they move away from home now and weren’t great away on the opening weekend but Almeria look very limited to me. I can see Almeria sitting back and trying to put XI men behind the ball with Sevilla opening the game up in the second half. I’m going to keep my stakes reasonably limited here – I don’t see the 2.2 in the same bracket as the two bets in the Bundesliga earlier in the day, but it is definitely a price worth backing. You could say Almeria did well for their draw against Elche with ten men for a large part of the game, but it’s going forward where they have huge issues, and Sevilla will fully test them at the back too. I’d be surprised if Sevilla couldn’t open their win account here.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Sevilla to beat Almeria at 2.2 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
