SUNDAY IN EUROPE: The Ultra previews Sunday’s games between STUTTGART V RB LEIPZIG and KOLN V SCHALKE both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

STUTTGART V RB LEIPZIG

2.30pm It’s fantastic to have European football back, and although we don’t have a blockbuster Sunday afternoon on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as La Liga and Serie A return next weekend, we do have two nice games to enjoy from the Bundesliga. We start the day with Stuttgart hosting RB Leipzig and this will be a very interesting game. RB Leipzig started last season very poorly, and they simply can’t afford to start so slowly this season. They only barely made it into the top four and got Champions League football. Stuttgart are also hoping to improve on last season, they went into the final day in the relegation fight but the won their final game to finish in 15th just ahead of Hertha Berlin on goal difference. That was quite a dramatic finish considering they finished in mid-table in 2020/21! RB Leipzig actually have a superb record against Stuttgart, winning the last six meetings in the Bundesliga and Stuttgart haven’t even managed to score for the last four meetings. Indeed, Stuttgart haven’t scored in seven of the last eight meetings in the Bundesliga which is a remarkable stat for a high scoring league like the Bundesliga.

As you would expect, RB Leipzig are the heavy favourites here. They are trading odds on at the time of writing – currently 1.83 – and I’m sure they will be a popular bet at those prices. I couldn’t put anyone off to be honest, and they are definitely an option for any Betdaq Multiple this weekend too. Although RB Leipzig weren’t at their best last season and went backwards, when you look at the stats from last season there is only one winner here. Stuttgart are there for the taking, and RB Leipzig should get the job done here. The only thing that makes me limit my stakes here is that RB Leipzig performed better at home last season, and most of Stuttgart’s problems came away from home with just 11 points. That being said, Stuttgart are a very average side and they just aren’t at the same level as RB Leipzig. Given their slow start last season, I think they will be bang up for the first few games this season too.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win RB Leipzig to beat Stuttgart at 1.83 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

KOLN V SCHALKE

4.30pm We stay in the Bundesliga to finish the day as Koln host Schalke. These are two teams I really enjoy betting and trading on, as they offer a lot of different angles into the market. You might remember when we returned from lockdown, Schalke went on a crazy losing run and got relegated with only 16 points that season. They offered a huge amount of value taking them on, and not only were they losing they were losing heavily too. Although we were betting against Schalke, I do have a soft spot for them and was delighted to see them bounce straight back up – it is very tough to do that in fairness, but now the challenge is actually staying in the Bundesliga. Koln are another side that I have a soft spot for – in that 2020/21 season Koln actually finished in the relegation playoff spot and only managed that with a final day win too. They were playing some very good football and were much higher in the xG table. In that sense it was fantastic to see them move up into 7th last season and get a European spot too. It’s only what their football deserved at the end of the day. Koln were a very impressive side last season, and it’s no surprise to see them trading odds on here.

The home win is trading 1.76 at the time of writing and I feel there’s still value in backing a home win here. Schalke did well to top the Bundesliga 2 table last season, but it is a pretty weak league – it’s not as strong as the Championship for example! Both Schalke and Werder Bremen bounced straight back up but you have to remember just how far off the pace they were in 2020/21. 16 points is a miserable return. Obviously I am going to limit stakes here as we get our first look to see have Schalke improved, but Koln were rock solid last season. It was great that they were able to hang onto Anthony Modeste given all the goals he scored last season and surely the aim is to break into the top six this season. For Schalke their only goal is staying up, but I think they will struggle to do that – I can only see a Koln win here and feel this will be one way traffic. The two favourites today make a nice double.

Three points win Koln to beat Schalke at 1.76 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
