GERMANY V SPAIN

7.45pm After a long wait, International football finally returns as the Nations League kicks off on Thursday! We start with a cracking fixture as Germany take on Spain. I know we shouldn’t focus on the big domestic clubs when it comes to International football but what a tale of two nations at the moment. Germany have the Champions League winners with Bayern Munich while La Liga and Barcelona are desperately trying to hold on to their star man in Messi. For tonight neither side will care about what’s happening in their domestic leagues and there’s a lot to play for in Group A4. The fourth placed team goes down to League B.

With the long break, it’s easy to forget how good both teams sides are. Both topped their Group in Euro 2020 (now Euro 2021) qualifying with Spain winning all their games, while Germany won seven from eight. It’s fair to say that Germany had a slightly tougher Group with the Netherlands a much improved side recently. I feel that the draw is overpriced here at 3.55. Germany look a little short at 2.5 but I can’t see much between these two and the draw is worth backing at the odds for me.

BULGARIA V REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

7.45pm The Republic of Ireland could be forgiven for using the Nations League as a stepping stone with a massive Euro 2021 qualifier coming up, but at the same time they can’t afford to go down to League C. Indeed, they finished last of their Nations League Group in 2019 and only for a revamp to the competition this year they stay in League B. They have yet to record a Nations League win! Bulgaria will be a very tough test for them as they come up from League C and only lost once in a Group with Norway, Cyprus and Slovenia.

Bulgaria were given a tough Group for Euro 2021 qualifying and they always had no chance against England and Czech Republic, but they were very disappointing in general with only one win in the Group that included Kosovo and Montenegro. Ireland will feel that they can win here, but they need to improve their attacking. Ireland’s problem has always been scoring goals and it will be interesting to see does the new management improve that. For the time being I have my doubts, and once again I like the draw here. It’s 3.3 and Ireland are never far away from a draw. If they score first they will sit back and 1-1 is very likely, while we could easily see a very boring 0-0 draw.

The Ultra Says:
One point win Draw at 3.3 with BETDAQ Exchange.

FINLAND V WALES

7.45pm Wales start the Nations League in an excellent place. They have qualified for Euro 2021 and they must fancy their chances to top the Group with Finland, Republic Of Ireland and Bulgaria. They did exceptionally well to qualifying for Euro 2021 given their bad start but they cut through the Group like a hot knife through butter over the final match days. They have a tough task to start the competition with tonight though, as Finland also qualified for Euro 2021 – they did have a relatively weak Group however apart from Italy.

Finland also topped their Nations League Group in 2019 though, winning four games from six in a Group with Hungary, Greece and Estonia. Wales will know Hungary well from Euro 2021 qualifying. They beat them on the final day to qualifying, however they also lost to them away from home. Wales have the quality to easily beat this Finland side but I feel stakes should be kept to a minimum here. I’m happy to take a chance with Wales at 2.42 for a small investment.

The Ultra Says:
One point win Wales to beat Finland at 2.42 with BETDAQ Exchange.
