LA LIGA TUESDAY: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Tuesday’s games between VILLARREAL v ALAVES and SEVILLA v BARCELONA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

VILLARREAL V ALAVES

6pm Christmas is closing in but we have two very interesting nights of La Liga action left on BETDAQ Betting Exchange!! All eyes will be on Sevilla v Barcelona later in the night, but we start the evening with Villarreal hosting Alaves. Neither side will be happy going into Christmas, and they are both having poor seasons. After winning the Europa League last season, Villarreal are going to miss out on European football for next season as they are sitting in the bottom half of the table at the moment. They managed to stay in the Champions League, and they have drawn Juventus in the Last 16. It would be the shock of all shocks if they won the tournament to stay in it next season, and I can’t see them finishing in the top six in La Liga this season, especially with Barcelona not even in the top six at the moment. Alaves are having a poor season too, but they are fighting to stay in La Liga rather than European spots! They are obviously under immense pressure sitting in the bottom three.

When you look at the underlining numbers from both sides, there’s only one winner here. While Villarreal can be disappointed with the spot in the bottom half of the table, they have been playing better than that place suggests. They xG table puts them into fifth, and they have been unlucky at times this season. For example, they lost 1-0 to Sevilla recently when creating an xG of 1.90. Their problem is that they haven’t been creating high xG’s compared to other La Liga sides. Their xG figure is often too close to 1, and they need to push that towards 2. Given the lack of quality in the Alaves side, they shouldn’t have too many issues here. Alaves haven’t been playing well this season and their place in the table is a fair reflection of their form. They give away an average xG of 1.6 per game and that should be music to Villarreal’s ears. Everything points to a home win, and the 1.52 is worth backing on Villarreal.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Villarreal to beat Alaves at 1.52 with BETDAQ Exchange.

SEVILLA V BARCELONA

8.30pm Next we have a classic. What a fixture! Sevilla were a little lucky to beat Atletico Madrid at the weekend, but what a massive win for squad morale and they must come into this fixture buzzing. They will really believe they can win here too given the troubles of Barcelona this season, and you have to feel that’s been a huge factor for Barcelona this season – losing the fear factor. Now without Messi, every side feels they can get a result and they aren’t afraid to attack. Even in Barcelona’s win over Elche at the weekend they still conceded two goals and Elche, who are in the relegation fight, had a proper go at them away from home. I think what will give Sevilla a massive boost too is they are now Real Madrid’s main title challenger after beating Atletico Madrid. They have stayed in touch, and although the title should still go to Madrid, getting this close to actually being in the title race is a nice achievement for Sevilla. With so many question marks about Barcelona too, they have a fantastic chance to win here.

As I said above, Barcelona finally got a win under their belt at the weekend but it just wasn’t a confident one. They never seem in control this season. Even when they play well and create lots of chances, it still looks like they can concede from anywhere and put themselves under pressure. It will be interesting to see what kind of tactics Sevilla go into the game with – usually they like to sit back in the first half and step up their level in the second half. It might pay to attack Barcelona from the start here. Barcelona have been conceding too many goals this season, while Sevilla have been solid at the back. It’s no surprise that we have an open market here – usually we’d see Barcelona trading around 2.0 away to Sevilla, but 3.05 is a reflection on how fall they have fallen. I know Sevilla didn’t deserve to win against Atletico, but I can see them grinding out a win here – Barcelona are just giving away too many silly goals at the moment. Sevilla are worth backing at 2.54.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Sevilla to beat Barcelona at 2.54 with BETDAQ Exchange.
