LA LIGA WEDNESDAY: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Wednesday’s games between GRANADA v ATLETICO MADRID and ATHLETIC BILBAO v REAL MADRID with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

GRANADA V ATLETICO MADRID

6pm It’s the last day of football action in Europe before Christmas on Wednesday and we have two cracking La Liga fixtures on BETDAQ Betting Exchange!. We start the evening with Granada hosting Atletico Madrid, and these two sides would dearly love a win before Christmas. Granada recorded a nice 4-1 win at the weekend against Mallorca, and that does put a little distance between themselves and the relegation zone, I wouldn’t say that they are fully out of the woods yet, but there’s definitely a bottom five forming at the moment and they are sitting four points away from that – they also have a game in hand on three of the bottom five. They were always too good to even be close to a relegation battle but they had a terrible start to the season. They finished 9th last season, and now the goal is to just climb the table and hopefully finish between 10th and 13th or around that area. Atletico Madrid have lost two massive games in the last ten days. They have been pretty unlucky because in both games they finished with a higher xG but losses to Real Madrid and Sevilla have ended any hopes they had to holding onto their La Liga crown.

Atletico are in a battle for the top four at the moment, but they will still be very confident of finishing there as Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano are in 3rd and 4th ahead of them. They will probably be more worried about Real Sociedad and Barcelona who are right beside them in the table. Atletico obviously haven’t been at their best this season, their place in the table shows that, but they have been unlucky at times. They just aren’t taking their chances at the moment – they started the season not creating enough chances, and now they are creating enough to win games but aren’t converting them! Granada come into the game unbeaten in four, and they have been creating some good chances too. This is a tricky fixture for Atletico – I would be tempted to lay Atletico, but I feel the best value option here is over 2.5 goals at 2.24. I’d have this a 50/50 market considering the chances both sides are creating and we should have a good game here.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Over 2.5 goals at 2.24 with BETDAQ Exchange.

ATHLETIC BILBAO V REAL MADRID

8.30pm Next we have Athletic Bilbao hosting Real Madrid. This should be a cracker, and we have a very interesting betting heat too. Real Madrid are trading 2.26 at the time of writing, and I’m sure that will tempt many punters tonight! This is the last game before Christmas, but Real already have the title at their mercy. They would have been very disappointed to only draw 0-0 with Cadiz at the weekend, but they won’t be disappointed with the performance. They created an xG of 3.26, conceded 0.23 and were very unlucky not to win obviously. Perhaps they were due a bit of bad luck, because they have won some very close games recently. Their wins against Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid could have gone either way. Athletic Bilbao are your classic mid table La Liga side, but they a club with a better history than just mid table. They usually have fantastic cup runs, and they can give all the big clubs a good game over 90 minutes – hence the Real Madrid price of odds against here. While Real have a decent lead at the top of the table heading into this game, they don’t want to drop anymore points. It would be nice to build a decent lead, and then they can opt to focus on the Champions League if they get to the latter stages.

There’s no getting away from the fact this will be a tricky fixture for Real, but it does come at a good time looking at the Athletic Bilbao form. They broke their run without a win at the weekend with a 3-2 win over Real Betis, but they finished the game with a lower xG and were lucky to win. These two sides actually met recently, Real Madrid won 1-0, but that was actually the best recent performance from Bilbao. They created an xG of 2.84 which was impressive, but other than that they have been pretty average lately. Apart from the 3-2 Real Betis game, Bilbao games have been quite tight, and Real have also been keeping games tight. I feel I’d back Real at 2.26 in the match odds market, but under 2.5 goals makes far more appeal at 1.89. Although we saw an open game when Real had home advantage, I would expect Bilbao to be better at the back given home advantage and perhaps Real can grind out a win here.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.89 with BETDAQ Exchange.
