WEDNESDAY LA LIGA: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Wednesday’s clash between REAL MADRID v ATHLETIC BILBAO with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

REAL MADRID V ATHLETIC BILBAO

8pm We might only have one midweek game from Europe this week on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, but it’s a huge game at the top of La Liga as Real Madrid host Athletic Bilbao. Real Madrid have a chance to go seven points clear at the top of the table and it’s going to be very difficult to catch them if they finish 2021 in good form. Basically half of the teams in La Liga have played 15 games so this is technically Real’s “game in hand” however Atletico Madrid and Sevilla have also only played 14 games so it means very little. Seven points would be a huge gap mentally at this stage of the season though, and with home advantage Real can’t afford to slip up.

Real recorded a massive win at the weekend over Sevilla to give themselves a five point advantage, and that would increase to eight here. They also kept their four point advantage over Atletico Madrid but it’s fair to say that Atletico haven’t been at their best this season. With Barcelona almost turning into a mid-table side after Messi has left, the road is clear for Real to lift another La Liga title. Athletic Bilbao have been playing their usual solid football, but always tend to come up short against the top sides. They are your classic higher mid-table La Liga side who do well in the Cups.

The 1.51 on Real is worth backing here in my view. Bilbao come into the game without a win in their last five fixtures, and they have also had a pretty easy run of fixtures. They would have been happy with a draw against Real Sociedad and they were unlucky to draw with Espanyol but since then they have lost to Cadiz who are 17th and drawn with Levante and Granada who sit 20th and 16th. To not come away with a three against three sides batting for relegation is very disappointing, and it’s not like they bossed the fixtures either.

Bilbao have only managed xG figures of 0.81, 0.60 and 1.46 against three sides in the bottom five and with Real Madrid in good form with home advantage, I can only see one way traffic here. I know backing odds on favourites isn’t for everyone, but we have a lot of value on offer here in my view – I would have Real much shorter than their current 1.52 and they have to be a Max Bet for me at the odds. This should be a one way traffic win.

The Ultra Says:
Five points win Real Madrid to beat Athletic Bilbao at 1.52 with BETDAQ Exchange.
