NATIONS LEAGUE: The Ultra previews Wednesday’s Nations League game between SCOTLAND v UKRAINE with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

SCOTLAND V UKRAINE

7.45pm The Nations League returns on Wednesday with Scotland hosting Ukraine! A lot of football fans moan about International breaks these days, but we do have a lot on interesting Groups in the Nations League and we should have some cracking markets on BETDAQ Betting Exchange over the next week. We just have one game to enjoy on Wednesday as these two sides catch up on this fixture as Ukraine had to delay their World Cup Qualifying earlier in the year.

These two actually met in that delayed World Cup Qualifier back in June with Ukraine running out 3-1 winners. There was a tonne of emotion in that game, and unfortunately for Ukraine they then lost 1-0 to Wales in the “Final” for qualification. They have started Group B1 superbly in the Nations League though – they sit top with seven points after three games. Scotland are just behind them on six points, so this game and the final Group game also between these two is going to decide the Group winner. Republic of Ireland have been put in a difficult position losing to Armenia – but they will also have an impact on this Group given they have to play Scotland on Saturday.

Given the two sides met so recently in such a big game, it’s hard not to look back at that game. However, it was a very emotionally charged night for Ukraine. There’s no getting away from the fact that on paper Ukraine are a better side than Scotland, but we also have to consider Scotland are superb with their home fans behind them. They have made a huge amount of progress over the last two years too – however conceding three to Ukraine in the World Cup Qualifier and then three again away to the Republic of Ireland is a massive red flag.

Scotland will have to be very tight at the back here, and it’s no surprise that we have a very open market. Scotland are favourites at the time of writing – they are trading around 2.6 and I’m not sure I would have them that short. For me I’d have an even more open market, perhaps with the sides pretty much the same price. Ukraine won’t be unhappy with a draw here – although they don’t have “home” advantage in the final Group game. The atmosphere will be intense here nevertheless, but Ukraine are a classy side and they will be hoping for a quick return to the A Groups.

While the Scotland lay is a very tempting bet, I also expect a pretty cagey game here. That brings Under 2.5 goals into play at 1.63 and possibly Both Teams Not To Score at 1.84. I can’t see Ukraine making this game open, and they kept things very tight when beating Ireland, and also the 1-0 loss to Wales didn’t have much in it. I would expect similar tactics here to be honest, and while the Scottish lay is a tempting bet and I couldn’t put anyone off it, Under 2.5 goals stands out as the value here at 1.63.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.63 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
