UEFA SUPER CUP: We preview Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended stats. It’s an all-English affair as LIVERPOOL take on CHELSEA.

LIVERPOOL V CHELSEA

8pm We have an All English affair on Wednesday night as Liverpool take on Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup. It feels like a lifetime ago that Chelsea lifted the Europa League trophy after their rough summer, and after losing 4-0 to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon – this is a tough fixture to bounce back in! They will be boosted by the fact that they have nothing to lose in this once off affair, however another heavy defeat by a rival Top Six side will put huge pressure on the club at the start of the season.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Liverpool 1.63, Chelsea 6.0 and the draw is 4.3. Liverpool will obviously have fond memories of Istanbul having won the Champions League here and they come into this clash full of confidence after scoring four goals on Friday night on the way to beating Norwich. They impressed in the Community Shield when drawing with Man City prior to that, and it’s hard to see Chelsea beating them.

You have to go all the way back to 2005 to find an English Super Cup winner and that was Liverpool. Not many had high hopes for Manchester United’s squad this season yet they blew Chelsea away in the second half on Sunday afternoon and we can only see one way traffic for Liverpool here. Chelsea just looked a little lost at the weekend and Klopp’s attacking tactics can blow them away again here. It’s tempting to back Liverpool to cover the handicap, however they make a lot of appeal at 1.63 and we can’t ignore that as our best bet.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Liverpool to beat Chelsea at 1.63.
