WEEK AHEAD: A week of top class cricket and Nations League action is bookended by this season’s next Formula One Grand Prix.

England’s footballers are in action in the Nations League on Tuesday evening, facing Germany at 19:45 (Channel 4). Gareth Southgate’s men beat the Germans in the Euros last summer and look to have another good chance of registering a win against their old rivals.

It’s the turn of Scotland on Wednesday, as they take on Armenia at 19:45 (Premier Sports 1), while Wales face a tough game at home to the Netherlands, live at the same time on S4C. The Republic of Ireland will be hoping to atone for a disappointing Nations League in 2020/21 which saw them end without a victory and narrowly avoid relegation. They play Ukraine at 19:45, live on Premier Sports 2.

Round one of the Canadian Open gets underway at 11:45 (Sky Sports) on Thursday and is sure to feature a top-class field. The Scandinavian Mixed is a different competition on the DP World Tour, featuring both male and female golfers. Play begins from 12:00 on Sky Sports. In the evening Northern Ireland are in Nations League action against Kosovo at 19:45 (Premier Sports 1).

Friday sees the start of the second Test between England and New Zealand from Tent Bridge (11:00, Sky Sports). Coverage from both round two of the Canadian Open (11:45, Sky Sports) and Scandinavian Invitational (12:00, Sky Sports) follows soon after.

Tune into Sky Sports from 11:00 on Saturday for coverage from Day Two of England’s Test match against New Zealand. Round three from the Scandinavian Mixed begins from 12:30 (Sky Sports). Will last year’s winner, Rory McIlroy, still be in the hunt at the Canadian Open? Find out from 12:45 on Sky Sports. In the evening there’s more football from the Nations League. Scotland are in Dublin to play the Republic of Ireland (17:00, Premier Sports 1). At 19:45 England will be seeking revenge for their European final defeat by Italy when they play the Azzurri. Catch the action live on Channel 4. Wales managed two draws against Belgium in their World Cup qualifying campaign and would surely welcome a similar result, when they play at 19:45 (S4C).

England’s Test match reaches its mid-point, and indeed the mid-point of the Series, on Sunday. Play begins at the usual time of 11:00 (Sky Sports). The pace of things goes up a notch when the Azerbaijan Grand Prix begins on Sky Sports at 12:00. From 12:30 (Sky Sports) there’s the concluding round from the Scandinavian Mixed, and at 12:45 (Sky Sports) the Canadian Open. The week concludes with Northern Ireland taking on Cyprus from 14:00 (Premier Sports 1).
