WEEK AHEAD: Something for everyone this week with the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, midweek Carabao Cup action, and the next round of the NFL.


For those looking for an entertaining introduction to the week, Monday won’t be your day unless you have a Netflix subscription, as there isn’t any noteworthy sport on TV.

It does get better though as Tuesday presents an interesting Championship clash between promotion-chasing Watford and Reading under the lights at Vicarage Road. Catch it on Sky Sports from 20:00.

The quiet start to the week continues on Wednesday with a T20 World Cup semi-final match between New Zealand and Pakistan at 08:00 on Sky Sports, and a coming together of Manchester City and Chelsea in the League Cup at 20:00 (Sky Sports) will see one of the Premier League giants dumped out in the first round of the competition.

Thursday sees the sporting schedule get slightly busier with another big semi-final clash in the T20 World Cup at 08:00 on Sky Sports; one for the early birds or die-hard cricket fans. The weekly golf tournaments get underway, with the Nedbank Challenge and Houston Open teeing off at 09:00 and 12:30, respectively, for the first of their four days (Sky Sports). Manchester United then host Aston Villa in the League Cup at 20:00 on Sky Sports.

The golf continues on Friday with the Nedbank Challenge and Houston Open teeing off again at 09:00 and 12:30 (Sky Sports) in their second days, before England Women welcome Japan Women in an international friendly (19:00, ITV). Bath are visited by Leicester in the Rugby Premiership at 19:45 (BT Sport) and Birmingham City v Sunderland in the Championship on Sky Sports sees us through to Saturday (20:00).

The entertainment continues through the night with an NFL tie for the night owls which sees Atalanta Falcons take on Carolina Panthers, kicking off at 00:00 on Sky Sports.

Saturday gets into gear with the Nedbank Challenge and Houston Open continuing at 09:00 and 18:30, respectively, on Sky Sports. Then the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City take on Brentford, who have proven to be unpredictable this season (12:30, BT Sport).

St Mirren face Rangers in the Scottish Premiership at 12:30 (Sky Sports), just before the Grand Slam of Darts gets going at 13:00 (Sky Sports). The afternoon sees the Autumn Nations Cup return on Amazon Prime for the first time since 2020 and sees England v Japan and Wales v Argentina at 15:15 and 17:30, respectively.

We are then gifted with another big clash in the Premier League between a flying Newcastle and Chelsea, who are still building under Graham Potter (17:30, Sky Sports), before Wolves v Arsenal, also on Sky Sports, sees out the evening from 19:45. Can Mikel Arteta’s men keep up their momentum?

The T20 World Cup final on Sunday morning at 08:00 (Sky Sports) will see the eighth champions crowned in front of a packed crowd at the MCG in Melbourne. The Nedbank Challenge, and Houston Open enter their final phase at 08:30 and 18:00, respectively (Sky Sports).

A six-pointer between Championship high-flyers Burnley and Blackburn kicks off at 12:30 (Sky Sports), and then we have another fixture for the Rugby Premiership fans between Saracens and Northampton (12:15, BT Sport). The Grand Slam of Darts continues at 13:00 on Sky Sports, and Brighton host Aston Villa at 14:00 (Sky Sports).

A quality weekend of Rugby ends with another Autumn International tie, this time between Scotland and New Zealand at 14:15 on Amazon Prime. Finally, on Sky Sports, Fulham v Manchester United and the Sao Paulo Grand Prix closes out the week in fine fashion at 16:30 and 18:00, respectively.
