WEEK AHEAD: There’s a lot at stake this week with several huge sporting events taking place, including the Champions League, the Aintree Grand National, and the Masters.


There are matches from the Indian Premier League throughout the week, beginning on Monday with the Sunrisers Hyderabad against the Lucknow Super Kings at 15:00 (Sky Sports). The evening sees Crystal Palace host Arsenal in the Premier League in a 20:00 kick-off on Sky Sports. Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking to continue their push for the top four and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2017.

The Champions League returns on Tuesday evening with the first of the quarter final ties beginning. After defeating Manchester United in the last round, Atletico Madrid now face a far greater task if they are to put a second Manchester side out of the competition in the shape of Man City. Liverpool look to have a favourable draw against Benfica and Jurgen Klopp’s side will be aiming to take a healthy first leg advantage back to Anfield. Both games are live from 20:00 on BT Sport.

Two well established IPL sides go head-to-head at 15:00 (Sky Sports) on Wednesday, as Kolkata Knight Riders play the Mumbai Indians. Burnley host Everton in what looks a crucial relegation clash at 19:30 (Sky Sports).It’s the turn of Chelsea on Wednesday and they will need to be on their game as they take on a Real Madrid side that edged out PSG in the last round courtesy of a Karim Benzema hat-trick. The only tie not to feature an English side sees last season’s Europa League winners Villareal take on Bayern Munich. Catch the action in both games from 20:00 on BT Sport.

Thursday is the day all golf fans have been waiting for as the first Major of the season begins, the Masters from picturesque Augusta National. Jon Rahm recently lost his world number one ranking to the in-form Scottie Scheffler, but the Spaniard will be desperate to return to the top of the pile and what better way to do it than by claiming his first green jacket. Round one begins at 14:00 on Sky Sports. In the evening there’s the next round of Premier League Darts from 19:00 (Sky Sports). Three British sides are in action in European quarter finals, with Rangers travelling to Portugal to face Braga and West Ham hosting Lyon in the Europa League, while in the Europa Conference League Leicester take on PSV Eindhoven (all 20:00, BT Sport).

Day two from the Masters on Friday begins at the same time of 14:00 on Sky Sports and we’ll find out who will play on into the weekend and who will miss the cut. At 20:00 (Sky Sports) there’s Premier League action, with Newcastle looking to recover from two recent defeats when they face Wolves.

Saturday is a huge day of sport. Things get going with a lunchtime kick-off in the Premier League as Everton take on Manchester United (12:30, BT Sport). There’s an all-British clash in the European Champions Cup rugby as Sale take on Bristol (13:00 BT Sport). At 17:15 the world’s most famous horse race gets underway, as 40 horses and jockeys have 30 fences and four-and-a-quarter miles between them and Grand National glory. Tune in earlier for the big race build up on ITV. At 17:30 on Sky Sports Aston Villa take on Tottenham in the Premier League. The competition will be beginning to heat up at the Masters, with the players teeing up for round three from 20:00 (Sky Sports).

The action doesn’t stop there either, as there’s an early start on Sunday morning with the Australian Grand Prix from 06:00 on Sky Sports. Two matches in the Premier League follow, with a relegation battle between Norwich and Burnley first up at 14:00 (Sky Sports). Then there is a monumental clash at the other end of the table as Man City and Liverpool face each other in a match that could decide the fate of the title.
