WEEK AHEAD: The football keeps on coming as the midweek European action whets the appetite for Liverpool v Man City on Sunday.

What would the week be without sport? This Monday certainly wouldn’t be as interesting if not for the evening Premier League entertainment that sees Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa kick off our busy week with a potential relegation battle where both sides will expect to take all three points. Catch it on Sky Sports at 20:00. Tune in at 01:00 for a mighty clash between Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL (Sky Sports) if you really can’t wait until the Champions League on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s sporting entertainment starts as FC Copenhagen host Manchester City in the reverse of the fixture that saw them lose 5-0 in the Champions League last week (17:45, BT Sport) before Wigan welcome Blackburn in the Championship at 19:45 (Sky Sports).

The Champions League group stage continues with AC Milan v Chelsea, which will see the Italians out for revenge after their comfortable 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge (20:00, BT Sport) at the same time as Celtic v RB Leipzig (BT Sport) where the Scots will have to improve on their last performance if they have any chance of making it to the knockout stages. England’s Lionesses host Czech Republic Women at the AMEX Stadium at 20:00 on ITV in front of an almost sell-out crowd to ease us through to Wednesday.

On Wednesday, England’s preparations for the T20 World Cup continue as they travel to Australia for the 2nd of their T20 fixtures at 09:10 on BT Sport before the highlight of midweek takes us to Ibrox for Rangers v Liverpool in the Champions League at 20:00 (BT Sport). Tottenham also continue their Champions League campaign against Frankfurt (20:00, BT Sport) and will aim to get some more points on the board before they face Marseille in November.

The golf gets going on Thursday morning with the ZOZO Championship teeing off at 04:00 on Sky Sports though it will surely only be the hardcore fans that tune in for the start of this one. The Andalucía Masters also gets underway at 12:00 (Sky Sports) before the Europa League and Conference League fixtures kick-off.

Fiorentina v Hearts and Bodo/Glimt v Arsenal get going at 17:45, with Manchester United v Omonia Nicosia and West Ham v Anderlecht taking their places as the 20:00 fixtures (BT Sport). There is more NFL for American football fans as Washington Commanders take on Chicago Bears at 00:30, and then the late-night golf continues at 04:00 with the ZOZO Championship (both Sky Sports).

Both golf tournaments progress on Friday, the ZOZO Championship maintaining the early morning slot at 04:00 and the Andalucía Masters teeing off at 12:00 (both Sky Sports). Australia and England play their third T20 fixture at 09:10 (BT Sport), and Sale Sharks v London Irish is the first Premiership Rugby game of the week at 19:45 on BT Sport. The Premier League then accompanies us into a crammed Saturday with Brentford and Brighton battling it out at 20:00 on Sky Sports.

The weekend begins on Saturday with the ZOZO Championship at 03:30 and the Andalucía Masters at 12:00 (both Sky Sports). It is a busy day for football fans as Rotherham host Huddersfield in the Championship at 12:30 (Sky Sports) before Leicester City v Crystal Palace gets going at 12:30 (BT Sport).

Gloucester face Bristol Bears in Premiership Rugby at 15:00 on BT Sport, and the evening properly gets into gear with the undisputed middleweight bout between both undefeated Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall at 17:00 (Sky Sports). Spurs will look to stay on track with a win against Everton at home (17:30, Sky Sports), and old foes Watford and Norwich collide in the Championship at 19:45 on Sky Sports, though it’s the away side that will enter the field with the points advantage. Have Watford and Slaven Bilic got enough to start gaining some ground?

Sunday sees the ZOZO Championship continue at 04:00 and the Andalucia Masters close in on the final showdown (11:00, both Sky Sports), as Motherwell and Rangers clash in the Scottish Premiership and Manchester United Women take on Brighton Women in the WSL both at 12:00 (Sky Sports, BBC). Aston Villa v Chelsea is the first of two cracking Premier League games at 14:00 (Sky Sports).

Then Harlequins take on Leicester Tigers in Premiership Rugby at 15:00 (BT Sport). Football fans across the country will be finishing their lunch quickly as the highlight of the week, Liverpool v Man City, kicks off at 16:30 (Sky Sports). Can Erling Haaland turn up in another massive game? Reading v Arsenal Women in the WSL takes place on Sky Sports from 18:45, and Dallas Cowboys v Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL closes out a lively week at 01:15 (Sky Sports).
