WEEK AHEAD: The T20 World Cup reaches it’s conclusion whilst there’s international football and the next race in the F1 calendar to look forward to.
The week takes a while to warm up and NFL fans will have to wait until the early hours of Tuesday for the first action when the Chicago Bears line out against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 01:00 on Sky Sports. The rest of Tuesday is a rare blank, but cricket fans will already be looking ahead to the first T20 World Cup semi-final, beginning at 14:00 on Wednesday.
England, currently unbeaten in four matches in their group, look a certainty for the semis, but with the ties still yet to be confirmed fans need to watch out for whether they will have to wait instead for the second semi-final at 14:00 on Thursday. Before that there is golf with the second inauguration of the Dubai Championship, won last year by Antoine Rozner, beginning at 08:00 on Sky Sports. Later in the evening the PGA Tour gets underway, with players teeing up at the Houston Open from 18:00.
On Friday, the next round of World Cup qualifiers begins with Scotland travelling to Moldova, where Steve Clark’s side will be confident of a win and cementing second place in Group F. Catch the action live on Sky Sports at 17:00 and then switch over to ITV to watch the Three Lions face Albania in an important encounter at 19:45. There’s also rugby on BT Sport from 19:30 when Gloucester host struggling Bath.
Both golf events continue into Saturday, beginning again with the Dubai Championship from 08:00 on Sky Sports. Stay on the channel for more pin-point accuracy, when at 13:00 the Grand Slam of Darts begins from Aldersley, with some of the top stars competing for a share of the £550,000 prize fund. Day 3 of the Houston Open gets underway from 18:00, and then Wales will need to be on target against Belarus in their World Cup qualifier at 19:45.
Sunday is a day of great variety. There’s the conclusion to both golf tournaments, with more action from day two of the Grand Slam of Darts. Following swiftly on its heels, Sky Sports brings coverage from the T20 Cricket World Cup Final live from Dubai, where four weeks of pulsating action reaches its climax. If that wasn’t enough then there’s always the Sao Paulo Grand Prix (17:00 Sky Sports), with the next episode in a dramatic drivers’ championship race between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
