WEEK AHEAD: A fantastic week of British sport features England’s cricketers, the British GP from Silverstone, and the early stages of Wimbledon 2022.


Tennis will well and truly take precedence on sports fan’s televisions this week as Wimbledon gets started for another year. Catch the opening day and 1st round of the Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Singles on Monday airing via the BBC from 11:00.

At the same time on Sky Sports, England’s third Test with New Zealand reaches its conclusion and the home side will be hoping to round out the series with a whitewash.

Tuesday will follow in the same vein as Monday with the second day of Wimbledon 2022 getting underway with some of the biggest names in tennis kicking off their tournament (BBC from 11:00).

Play from SW19 continues on Wednesday at the same time.

Thursday sees a busier day for sports fans as the best golfers in the world make their way to Illinois for Day 1 of the John Deere Classic, which gets going on Sky Sports at 12:45. More golf will feature throughout the day as the Irish Open tees off on Sky Sports at 13:00. Of course, Wimbledon will be on throughout the day, starting on the BBC at 11:00.

For anyone craving a football fix over the off-season, Switzerland Women take on England Women in preparation for the upcoming Euros on ITV at 17:00.

Friday sees England get their fifth Test with India underway, a year after it was originally postponed. The first day of the Test is live on Sky Sports at 10:30, and England will look to start positively in pursuit of their 50th test win against India. The John Deere Classic Day 2 begins at 12:45 on Sky Sports, while the Irish Open continues at 13:00 also on Sky Sports. Wimbledon heads into the third round on the BBC at 11:00.

Starting a busy weekend of sport on Saturday is Day 2 of the Test between India and England airs on Sky Sports from 10:30. The John Deere Classic Day 3 begins on Sky Sports at 12:30 while the Irish Open Day 3 continues from 13:00 also on Sky Sports. The Wimbledon third round continues all day on the BBC from 11:00.

Sunday sees the beginning of Day 3 of the fifth Test between England and India, get going on Sky Sports at 10:30, while the final rounds from the John Deere Classic and Irish Open start at 12:30 and 13:00 on Sky Sports respectively. The competition at Wimbledon begins to heat up with the beginning of the fourth round on the BBC from 11:00. Rounding off an exciting week of sport, the British Grand Prix from Silverstone will be aired from 15:00 (Sky Sports) onwards. Can the British get a podium on home soil?
