WORLD CUP: We preview Wednesday’s second semi-final between CROATIA v ENGLAND with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

The hype seems to be getting stronger and stronger every day, however they have a huge chance here. Croatia come into this game off the back of two Extra Time and Penalties affairs, while England had a very easy game against Sweden.
England are the favourites, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Croatia 3.65, England 2.4 and the draw is 3.2. You have to say that in terms of build up everything has gone in England’s favour leading into this game. Croatia looked exhausted at the end of Extra Time against Russia, and although they had had a few days to recover – that simply has to take a toll on the players, especially after needing to play Extra Time before that too.
England To Qualify is trading 1.69 which looks great value as you’d have to see them having the upper hand if it was to reach Extra Time. They have broken their penalties voodoo too, and Croatia didn’t take great penalties against Russia. We could see a very cagey affair here in the 90 minutes, with under 2.5 goals trading 1.6 and over 2.5 goals 2.64. It’s hard to see either team being too attacking, especially at the start of the game and that market looks priced fairly.
England may have had an ‘easy’ draw to this stage, however Colombia and Sweden both looked solid in their games prior to meeting England and England made them look average. Colombia got a lucky draw, however they barely threatened the England goal the whole game and it was a very similar story against Sweden. Let’s not forget that Sweden stopped Italy from scoring twice in their Playoff and nearly held Germany to a draw – yet England made them look like a poor side.
England To Qualify definitely makes a lot of appeal at 1.69; however we feel that they can win in 90 minutes here. The 2.4 looks a shade too big and offers good value – Croatia are there for the taking after their last two very tough games and this fresh England side can take full advantage. Southgate has England playing with togetherness we’ve never seen before in an England team and maybe it really is coming home!
