WORLD CUP: We preview Thursday’s three World Cup games between DENMARK v AUSTRALIA, FRANCE v PERU and ARGENTINA v CROATIA each with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

1pm We kick off Thursday at the World Cup with a must win game for Australia against Denmark. Australia wouldn’t have been expected to get anything against France; although they did come close to getting a draw – while Denmark got past Peru with a 1-0 win. That leaves Australia needing the win here to get back into the mix; although a draw might be OK depending on what France do against Denmark – nevertheless it’s a massive game for both sides.

Denmark are slightly odds on, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Denmark 1.99, Australia 4.7 and the draw is 3.5. Denmark have been impressive in recent games; they warmed up for this World Cup with a 2-0 win over Mexico and that form line is looking good now after Mexico beat Germany. While you’d have to say that they thrashed Ireland in the Playoff to reach here; although made hard work of the first leg. Australia battled hard against France and you’d have to expect similar here – it’s tempting to back Denmark however we can see this being a very tight affair and we’re happy to back under 2.5 goals at 1.67.

Under 2.5 goals at 1.67.

4pm Denmark and Australia will definitely have an eye on this fixture after they finish their game earlier in the day. This Group could be finished by today; however Peru played very well against Denmark and definitely showed that they can cause France some problems. For all their talent, it still seems that France haven’t settled on a system that really works for them and as we saw in their opening game against Australia, they can be stopped and they could be a good lay to trade.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; France 1.62, Peru 6.6 and the draw is 4.2. We feel that having seen the opening games in this Group, France are a little short at 1.62 and appeal as a good value lay. We feel that this will be a very tight affair and Peru are more than capable of disrupting France’s play and getting a result here. In a tight game, obviously under 2.5 goals is a good option too and that’s trading 1.87 however we prefer the lay of France at 1.62.

Lay France at 1.62.

7pm This is definitely one of the best games on this week at the World Cup; and it’s a very interesting situation after Argentina could only draw with Iceland in the first round of Group games. Croatia are obviously better than Iceland; and a loss for Argentina will see Messi and co under huge pressure.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Argentina 2.12, Croatia 4.1 and the draw is 3.45. Argentina struggled at times to score in qualifying for the World Cup and that was obviously again against Iceland – although Messi had a chance to win the game with a penalty and missed, they are still very one dimensional going forward and that has to be a worry for their backers. Modric was ultra impressive for Croatia in their first game and we feel that the Croatian midfield can control the game here. Argentina look too short at 2.12 based on what we’ve seen from them and we have to lay those odds.

Lay Argentina at 2.12.
