WORLD CUP: The knockout phase continues and we preview Tuesday’s two World Cup games between SWEDEN v SWITZERLAND and COLOMBIA v ENGLAND both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

SWEDEN V SWITZERLAND

3pm Sweden were unlikely winners of Group F and although they come into this game as underdogs; they should not be underestimated. They managed to stop Italy from scoring over two legs in a Playoff to reach the World Cup, came very close to getting a draw against Germany and beat Mexico 3-0 in their last game. Switzerland finished second in a Group behind Brazil, and although they managed to get a draw against Brazil – they conceded in every game and couldn’t beat Costa Rica last time out.

We feel that the market has the wrong favourites here, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Sweden 3.2, Switzerland 2.78 and the draw is 3.0. With Switzerland conceding five goals in their three World Cup games – and very lucky to only concede one against Brazil, we have to lay them here at 2.78. Sweden have proven to be excellent at the back in recent games – and we expect a very tight affair here. It’s tempting to back Sweden at 3.2 because we feel that they should be favourites; however the shrewd play in a close game like this is to have the draw on our side too and we’re very happy to lay Switzerland at the odds.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Switzerland at 2.78.

COLOMBIA V ENGLAND

7pm England fans have had to wait until last to see their team in action in the Last 16, and the hype has only got bigger! You have to admit they have the “easier” side of the draw and now that we’ve lost a few big teams; their chances of winning a World Cup have probably never been better in decades. Colombia are an excellent side though and perhaps it feels like they are being overlooked with the England hype train going full steam ahead.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Colombia 4.2, England 2.18 and the draw is 3.25. It’s fair to say that neither team has faced opposition of the same quality that they will face here. Yes, England did play Belgium however they rested players and it was probably better if they lost that game so we can write that one off. Colombia lost their opener against Japan however they lost a man early in that game and have been impressive since. We expect a very close game here and simply have to lay England at 2.18 from a value point of view. That price seems ridiculously short in a game between two very good sides; indeed England at this price looks to be the best lay in the tournament to date.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay England at 2.18.
